(EN) How can you take part in improving your neighbourhood?

In Barcelona, every resident has the right to take part in decisions that affect their neighbourhood and the city. But... how can you do it?

Everyone has the right to be informed and heard, and to have their suggestions, proposals or complaints taken into account.

👉 In each neighbourhood, there are also participation spaces where people can learn, share their opinions, make proposals and work together to improve the community.

📢 The District Public Hearing (Audiència Pública)

This is an open space where neighbours can discuss collective matters in the district. Want to talk about parks, public spaces or local facilities? This is your chance to share ideas and find solutions with other residents and the City Council.

⚙️ How does it work?
The district councillor answers questions and proposals sent through decidim.barcelona or raised during the session.

📅  Where and when?
It happens at the District Office around every two months. The City Council will announce the date in advance.

👥 Who can take part?
Everyone! It’s a space for collective needs and collaborative work

🏡 The Neighbourhood Council (Consell de Barri)

This space brings together local people, community groups and the City Council to talk about key issues in the neighbourhood. From street improvements to services and community life, it's a place to make proposals and track how they evolve.

⚙️ How does it work?
About 15 days before the meeting, the topics are decided together by the Council and the community. People can present proposals, share opinions and work on solutions.

📅 Where and when?
At least twice a year at a neighborhood facility, but there may be more times for various reasons. You can find out at decidim.barcelona.

👥  Who can take part?
Any resident of the neighbourhood. Local associations often help prepare and lead the meetings.

❓ Why is it important to take part?

✅ Because in a democracy, participation is your right.

✅ Because these spaces are places for dialogue and building together.
✅ Because your neighbourhood is your home, and decisions affect your everyday life.
✅ Because together, we can talk, listen and help shape a better city.

📩 How can you send your proposals?
